One of the "sixty-niners" to settle in Burnstown (Springfield Minnesota) was Martin. He was born in Germany and came to this country in 1861 settling in Pittsburgh, where he was married. They came west to Wisconsin and then to Minnesota living on the homestead east of Springfield many years. Mrs. Augustin died and Martin died July 13, 1902. They were parents of J.B. Augustin, Well known Burnstown farmer.

Augustin.-- In Leavenworth, July 13th, Martin Augustin, aged eighty-five years and three months. Deceased was one of the pioneer settlers and had a wide circle of friends, being well esteemed by all. The family is one of the leading ones in the township of Leavenworth. Jos. B. Augustin, ex-county commissioner, and Frank Augustin are sons of deceased, and Mrs. Geo. Rubey and Mrs. Albert Schramm are his daughters. The funeral was held Tuesday in the Catholic church at Leavenworth, being attended by a large number of people, the funeral procession being over a mile long. The interment was in the Leavenworth cemetery.
