DAVID M. KIZER, 69, of Springfield, Ohio, formerly of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, passed away Monday afternoon, January 11, 2010 in his residence.

He was born in Frenchburg, Kentucky on November 22, 1940 the son of the late Floyd and Daisy (Lockhart) Kizer.

He served his country in the U.S. Army. Dave had a long career with International Harvester/Navistar. He started with them in 1959, working his whole career with them until he retired in 2003. His rise through the ranks began in the Forge shop cutting steel, to reworking the entire production process. In January 1983, he transferred to the Springfield plant from the Fort Wayne Scout plant. After his retirement, Dave had too much life to just sit; he took a part-time job with Windy Knoll Golf Club, helping with memberships, Pro Shop and various other functions. He was an active member of the DAV Chapter 13, a former member of Northwood Hills Country Club, and volunteered at the Springfield Regional Cancer Center.

On behalf of Dave, his family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff for their devotion to his care and the care of others. They would also like to extend their thanks to Community Mercy Hospice.

Dave is survived by four children and spouses, Penny and Tom Young of Ft. Wayne, David Matthew Kizer and Maundy Mitchell of Campton, New Hampshire, Michael and Connie Sarrazine of New Haven, Indiana, and Lisa (Hube) and Doug Grimes of Springfield; and nine grandchildren, Mallory and Hadley Young, David Kizer, Brandon and Eric Hube, Taylor, Jordan and Lauren Sarrazine, and Camryn Alexander.
