She was born on September 29, 1919 in Dodson, LA. She lived in Shreveport, LA from 1959 until moving to Lubbock in 1983. She married Urbon S. Alewine on September 23, 1983 in Lubbock. She was a member of the Church of the Harvest Assembly of God.

A grandson Howard Holmes preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband; six daughters, Faye LaSuzzo of Monroe, LA, Louise Seeley and Margaret Love, both of Pinehurst, NC, Lynell Cortes of Santa Clara, CA, Linda Jarvis of Ransom Canyon, TX and Doris Eaton of Garland, TX; 20 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Leon Stewart of Winnfield, LA.
