Frances F. Klein was born November 8, 1912 at Luxemburg, Iowa the daughter of Florian and Mary Schulte Steffen. She attended school at Luxemburg. Frances was united in marriage to Leon George Klein on January 24, 1940 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Luxemburg. To this union were born two daughters Mary Frances and Faye Ellen. They moved to Fremont Township northeast of Winthrop where they farmed for 56 years. Leon entered into his eternal rest on August 20, 1993. Frances lived for a few years at the farm home until moving nearer to her daughters. She has been a resident at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center for the past six years. Frances was an active member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Winthrop as well as many community activities. She loved her friends, farm, gardening, good German cooking, playing cards and numerous crafts. She especially enjoyed being around her grandchildren. Frances entered into her eternal rest on Saturday, January 30, 2010, in St. Elizabeth Health Care Center at Wabasha, Minnesota. She was 97 years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leon; two brothers: Clarence and Albert Steffen; and one sister Clara Burbridge. Survivors include her two daughters: Mary Cummins of Elgin, MN and Faye Johnson of Johnston, IA; five grandchildren: Kevin Cummins, Kurt Cummins, Karmen Burkholder, Korey Cummins, and Michael Johnson; eight great grandchildren; one brother Edmund Steffen of Delhi,IA; one sister Esther Ries of Greeley, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials will be directed to St .Elizabeth's Health Care Center in Wabasha, MN. Funeral services will be held at St . Patrick's Catholic Church in Winthrop at TIME and Date with Father Donald J.
