"The third suicide in Pennington County within ten days yesterday took the life of Joe Kindler, 67 year old Limestone rancher, who had lived 14 miles west of Hill City for nearly 40 years.
Sheriff Norris Hendrickson said the aged man shot himself in the right temple with a .22 rifle, about 10;30 am yesterday when he was alone at the ranch.
His wife left earlier in the morning to visit a the nearby ranch home of a son, Leo. When she, her son and son inlaw John Erickson returned to the ranch, they found the aged rancher lying unconscious in a machine shed, about 30 yards from the house.
They summoned Dr. EB Hulz, Hill City,who notified Sheriff Hendrickson, Kindler died about noon without regaining consciousness
Sheriff Hendrickson who was accompanied to the Kindler ranch by Coronor Ray Lemley and Stat's attorney Charles Whiting said they acertained no reason for the act except, possible despondancy. He added no inquest would be held."
