W. A. BEER, WELL KNOWN RESIDENT OF EXLINE, DIES
Death Came This Morning Following an Extended Illness - Was 82 Years of Age
Exline, Ia., April 21. - (Special) - Another Exline resident, one of the pioneers of the community, died at his home here this morning at about 7:15 o'clock. He was 82 years of age.
He was born in Ohio, coming to Iowa with his parents at the age of six years. For several years he engaged in farming, later entering the livery business with the late John H. Stickler, at Cincinnati, and residing there until 1899. He then came to Exline, and for many years operated the hotel at Exline, retiring from active work in 1917.
Deceased was a long time member of the I. O. O. F. lodge, having held membership in that order for over fifty years, being a charter member of the Exline lodge. He had also been a member of the Methodist church for the past 35 years.
In death he is survived by the wife, Virtue Beer, and two sons, Earn Beer, of Medford, Oregon, and Earl Beer, residing in western Iowa. There is one granddaughter.
Funeral arrangements were somewhat delayed, awaiting word from relatives from a distance, but tentative plans call for services Saturday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock from the Exline M. E. church.
The passing of Mr. Beer brings widespread sorrow in Exline and community where he was so well known and so highly regarded by all.
