Peter Johannes was born in Perl, Saarland, Germany. He immigrated from Germany at age 19 with his parents and 4 siblings, arriving New York in 1846. He married Margaret Menches Dec 1852 in Erie County, Ohio. About 1879 he moved his wife and 12 children from Sandusky Ohio to Verdi, Kansas where he farmed for several years. He died Dec. 10, 1912 at the home of his son Lewis Johannes in Salina, Kansas.
