Cecilia H. Bahr, 86, died Jan. 7 at the Good Samaritan Home in Hays. She was born Sept. 28, 1922, at Claflin, the daughter of Fred and Louise (Werner) Beran. She married Charles E. Bahr on Nov. 10, 1947, at Odin. He died Nov. 27, 2006. She was a graduate of the St. Rose School of Nursing, Great Bend. She was retired as a registered nurse, having worked at both St. Rose Hospital and Central Kansas Medical Center of Great Bend. She was a resident of rural Olmitz since 1947, moving from Odin.
Mrs. Bahr was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and Altar Society, both of Olmitz, the VFW Auxiliary at Hoisington and of the St. Rose Alumnae Nurses of Great Bend.
Survivors include a son, Leon Bahr of Olmitz; two daughters, Judy Getty and husband Larry of Hays and Jane Brack and husband Bruce of Rio Rancho, N.M.; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Helen Morgan and Mary Lou Morgan, three brothers, Frank, Roman and August Beran, and two sisters, Hilda Johnson and Hattie Beran.
A family rosary will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday and a wake service at 7 p.m. Sunday, both at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz, with Father Ultan Murphy officiating. Burial will be at the St. Ann Church Cemetery, Olmitz. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the church, in care of the funeral home.
