Another of the pioneers, who did so much to establish good society and improve the community northeast of Parker, was called to her reward on Feb. 12th, 1915 after a severe illness. Theresa Wagner, relict of Simon Wagner, a veteran of the Civil War and deceased since 1905.

Simon Wagner and his wife were among the first to settle in the northeast part of Brothersfield Township in the late 1870. They were a kind, happy, frugal, industrious, and Christian couple, and obtained a comfortable competence from the farm and also won the esteem of all who came in contact with them.

Theresa Wagner was born in Austria, Oct. 15, 1830, and settled in Minnesota early in the 1850's and also went through all the hardships of pioneer life there. She came with her husband and children to Dakota Territory in 1875; and in 1878 located on the land in Brothersfield which thereafter was her home till death.

She was the mother of seven children, four of whom are living, namely: Mrs. John T. Bones of Sioux Falls, Mrs. Geo. Still of Beach, ND, Fred of Boring WA, and Margaret who lived with her mother.
