Marilyn Dourand Hogrebe, 73, of Bear Creek Township, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2009, surrounded by her loved ones, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born Oct. 3, 1935, in Sugar Notch, she was a daughter of the late Sheldon and Elizabeth Smigelski Dourand. Marilyn was a graduate of GAR High School.
She was presently employed as a director for the Plains Senior Center, where she enjoyed her position and cherished the friendships she made. She also worked in the garment industry for many years, lastly at Leslie Fay.
Mrs. Hogrebe was a member of the Holy Trinity Church, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded, most recently, by her mother Elizabeth, whom she was devoted to until her death on Feb. 19, 2009; her father Sheldon Dourand; and brothers, James and Donald.
Surviving are her husband, of 38 years, Robert Hogrebe, Bear Creek; sister, Dolores Ostrowski and her husband, Leon, Mountain Top; brother, Robert E. Dourand and his wife, Margaret, Mountain Top; eight nieces and nephews and their 11 children, whom she loved dearly, Deborah Casterlin, Donna Draina, Leon Ostrowski, Molly Buczynski, James Dourand, Kathryn Furcon, Lori Scot and Elizabeth Dourand; great-nephews and great-nieces, David James, Lee and Christian Ostrowski, Tony Vasquez, Gary and Allison Buczynski, Alex Draina, Kelsey, Andrew and Matthew Furcon, and Ryan Dourand; stepchildren, Carol Green and Charlene Schulde; and their children, Megan Green, Katie and Bradley Schulde.
The funeral will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the Leo P. Lehman Funeral Home, 689 Hazle Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Trinity Church, Wilkes-Barre, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Theodore Obaza, pastor officiating. Interment will be held in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bear Creek. Friends may call today, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
"Aunt Marilyn" was a very generous and loving soul who will always be remembered and forever missed.
Memorial contributions, may be made to the Plains Senior Center.
