Leon Mur Crews, was born January 26, 1923 in Etowah, Arkansas, to a homesteader and farmer and a hard-working mother who gave birth to 12 children.

He passed away in Phoneix on April 8, 2010 at the age of 87.

Leon was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Jo Burtis McBrayer Crews.

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela K. (Richard) Baehre; his son, Terry Mack Crews; grandchildren, Gil Patrick (Mary) Maldonado, Christopher Brent Maldonado, Michelle Leigh (Eric) Miller, Terry Christopher Crews; and great-grandchildren, Brittany Miles, Michael Maldonado, Dillon Segale, Morgan Segale, Brandon Maldonado, Garrett Miller and Isabel Miller.

Leon proudly served in the Army Air Corps from May, 1943 to December, 1945 as a Radio Operator Mechanic Gunner. He then worked as a machinist for over 30 years at AirResearch, later named Garrett Aerospace, later named Allied Signal, and then finally bought by Honeywell.

All who knew him remember him as a kind, simple and giving man with a wonderful sense of humor who loved his family. We will miss "DadDad" but know he is with "Gram" again.

Family and friends are invited to attend graveside services 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 12, 2010, at Valley of the Sun Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, AZ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Leon's name to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St, Phoenix, AZ 85008 preferred.
