She was born 8 July 1729, the daughter of Joseph Adams of Cambridge, MA. She married Peter Tufts in 1750 and they had 12 children. She was considered a Revolutionary War heroine based on her service nursing the wounded after the Battle of Bunker Hill. There is a DAR marker to her in Somerville Park dedicated in 1909.
