Emilie M. Saindon, 79, of Plato Center passed away on Thursday in Provena St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin.
    She was born Jan. 7, 1921 in Cicero, the daughter of Charles and Barbara Rozhen Kuska.
    She had been a homemaker most of her adult life; was a resident of Elgin from 1950 until 1965 and Plato Center since 1965. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Elgin and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
    Survivors include her husband,Viateur, whom she married on Aug. 14, 1948; five daughters, Rochelle (John) Sharkey of Elgin, Barbara Roby of Woodstock, Jeannette (Wayne) Russell of Plato Center, Mary (Steve) Grzywa of Seneca and Patricia (Kevin) Miyake of Tower Lakes, Ill.; two sons, William (Judith) Saindon of Goodrich, Mich. and Viateur (June) Saindon of Marysville, Ohio; 24 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Southerton of Sebring, Fla.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Viktora.
    Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m., Monday in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin to St. Thomas More Catholic Church for Mass at 10 a.m., the Rev. Richard Russo officiating. Burial will be in Plato Center Cemetery.
    Visitation will be 2-8 p.m., Sunday in the funeral home.
    Memorials may be made to St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
