Donald Koester, 76, of West Union, died Friday, April 9 at Palmer Lutheran Health Center, West Union, following a sudden illness.

He was born April 13, 1933 in West Union, son of Ernest and Charlotte Gross Koester. he married LaVerne Snitker on August 19, 1956 at Salem United Church of Christ near Waukon.

Mr. Koester farmed south of West Union all his life and was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Eldorado.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Larry of West Union, and Bradley of Minneapolis, Minnesota; two daughters, Connie (Jay) Haas of Calmar, and Cheryl Koester of Apple Valley, Minnesota; four grandchildren; and one sister, Ruby (Bill) Miller of West Union.

Preceded in death by one brother, Harlan.

Services 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Eldorado, with burial in the church cemetery. Public visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Burnham-Wood Funeral Home, West Union.
