Mary (Jesse) Marten, age 89, Shawano, formerly of Mattoon, died August 13, 1965 at Colonial Manor, Shawano.
She was born March 5, 1876 in the town of Pella.
On December 26, 1899 Mary was united in marriage to Charles Marten in the town of Pella. He preceded her in death on February 12, 1938.
Survivors include three sons, Alex Marten, Shawano, Charles (Adeline) Marten and Edwin Marten, all of Mattoon; one daughter, Olga (Fred) Rusch, Shawano; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers, August Jesse, California and Gustav Jesse, Clintonville; and one sister, Louise Palmquist, Shawano.
Funeral services were held August 15, 1965 at St. John Lutheran Church, Mattoon. The Rev. Lawrence Buuck officiated. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, town of Hutchins.
