Lester Paul Marten, Sr., age 78, Bowler, town of Bartelme, died Wednesday, December 27, 1989 at Birch Hill Care Center, Shawano.

He was born June 14, 1911 in Marathon County, the son of the late Paul and Ida (Goetz) Marten.

On October 22, 1932 Lester was united in marriage to Eva Williams in Bowler. She survives.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Lester (Mary) Marten, Jr., Plover and Floyd (Mavis) Marten, Monrovia, Maryland; two daughters, Janet (Douglas) Johnson, Bowler and Marcia (Bruce) Felts, Shawano; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence (Cora) Marten, Clayton, CA and Herbert (Alice) Marten, Ringle; two sisters, Margaret Wierman, Sheboygan Falls and Evelyn (William) Taylor, Wausau.

Funeral services were held December 30, 1989 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bowler. The Rev. Thomas Myhre officiated. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, town of Almon.
