Ita D. Babcock , 71, of Lodge Pole Lane, Greenville died Monday at her home after an illness. She was the wife of Richard Dana Babcock. Born in East Greenwich, a daughter of the late Joseph and Lucia (Mazzarella) D'Attore, she had been a resident of East Greenwich and Westhampton, N.Y., before moving to Greenville in 1979. She was a graduate of the former Rhode Island College of Education in 1940. She received her masters degree from Southampton College, Long Island Unviersity in 1975. She was employed as a reading instructor in several Junior High Schools in North Dakota and Long Island. Besides her husband she leaves two daughters, Lucia May Babcock Adams of Baton Rouge, Louisana and Linda-Jo B. Butler of Uxbridge, Mass.; three sisters, Rae D. Fairchild of Margate, Fla., Lucy G. Chapman of East Greenwich and D. Gloria Glover of North Lauderdale, Fla.; and a grandson. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt. 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Philip's Church, Putnam Ave., Greenville at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
