Mrs. Edith Margrette Gripp, long-time Carson County resident, died in the family home, 5 miles north of Panhandle, at 12:45 o'clock this morning. Mrs. Gripp was the wife of Walter Gripp, a wheat farmer and stockman.

Mrs. Gripp was 74 years old. The family has resided on their Carson County farm for the last 33 years. She was born April 15, 1872.

She was a life-long member of the Methodist Church.

Other than the husband, Mrs. Gripp is survived by three sons, James M. Gripp, Buffalo, Wyo., Arthur Gripp, Conway and Guy Gripp, Panhandle; three daughters, Mrs. Howard Mulkey, Miami; Mrs. A.E. Steinke, Cheyenne, Wyo., and Mrs. Groves Burum, Panhandle; one brother, J.T. Miller, Palisades, Colo.; and a sister, Mrs. Abbie Chew, Tucson, Ariz.

She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and one great grandson.

Funeral arrangements are pending. Arrangements are being handled by Boxwell Brothers.

Funeral services for Mrs. Edith Margrettie Gripp, 74, wife of Walter Gripp, will be held at 2:30 Friday afternoon at the First Methodist Church with Rev. W.E. Fisher, pastor, in charge. Burial will be in the Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Amarillo. The body was brought to the family home northwest of Panhandle Thursday afternoon, where it will lie in state until one hour before funeral services.

Edith Margrettie Miller was born in Cameron, Ill., April 15, 1872, and died December 4 at her home after a long illness.

At the age of 5 she moved to Hopeville, Ia., where she was married to Walter Gripp April 24, 1892. They lived in Union County, Iowa, until moving to Panhandle in 1912.

Mrs. Gripp was the mother of six children, all of whom survive; three sons, James, Buffalo, Wyo.; Arthur, Conway, and Guy Panhandle. Three daughters, Mrs. Abbie Mulkey, Miami; Mrs. Grace Steinke, Cheyenne, Wyo., and Mrs. Groves (Jerusha) Burum, Panhandle. Sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandson. A brother, J.T. Miller, Palisades, Colo., and a sister, Mrs. Abbie Chew, Tucson, Ariz., also survive.

Mrs. Gripp was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and a charter member of the Study and Social Club. In honor of their golden wedding anniversary the club and the members of the church honored them with a dinner. This dinner was attended by over 150 friends and relatives. At this time all of their children and all of their grandchildren but four were with them.
