Gripp died at Highland General Hospital in Pampa at 4 p.m. Wednesday after a lengthy illness. He moved to Carson County in 1913. He was a Carson County commissioner from 1942 to 1944 and was superintendent of the Conway Community Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Spicer and Glenn of Hereford; a brother, Guy of Panhandle; three sisters, Mrs. Groves Buram of Panhandle, Mrs. Howard Mulkey of Miami and Mrs. Grace Steinke of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and five grandchildren.
