This story tells us that H. W. Lindsey lived across the street from Saettel's grocery store. It states that on March 25th, Mr. Saettel called for help with removing things from the basement of his store. The water had risen and covered the sidewalk. Mr. Lindsey went to help by moving items from the basement...and before long water poured into the first floor and then rose rapidly preventing removal of merchandies. Mr. Lindsey returned home, but in the early afternoon an explosion occurred and the grocery was aflame having blown the top of the building away. There were 7 in the building, but only 5 were able to escape. George Saettel was thrown onto a floating roof and taken away by the strong current and eventually his body fell into the water.
