Faith Lois Cole, 85, of New London died Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington.
She was born August 4, 1924, in Henry County, the daughter of William Henry and Alta Pearl Lathrop Eilers. On February 1, 1943, she married Richard William Cole Jr. in Kahoka, Missouri. She was a homemaker and also worked in Cedar Rapids in a bakery as a decorator, and in clothing and shoe sales. Mrs. Cole enjoyed reading, traveling, TV, family dinners and reunions, and trips to Branson. She was a graduate of New London High School, a 70-year member of the New London Christian Church and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star #159 in Shelbina, Missouri.
Mrs. Cole is survived by her husband, Richard of New London; one son, William of New London; four step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Cole; nieces, Sharon Lemon, Sala Marlin, Renita Pfaff, Karley Primrose, Marla Putnum and Brenda Alderson Davey; nephews, Carl Marvin, William Hessee, Jim Cole and Tom Cole; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Gladys Fern Eilers Mason, Vera E. Lange, Sally Marvin, Goldie Albright, Nelva Porter and Helen Sandberg.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cole will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 20 at Elliott Chapel, New London. Pastor Rod Cooper will officiate. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery, New London. Visitation will be held after noon on Wednesday, May 19 at Elliott Chapel, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial has been established to Great River Hospice House, West Burlington.
