"Theodore W. Lerch, Sr., 82, retired operating engineer for the Columbia Quarry at Valmeyer and former Valmeyer village clerk, died Feb. 13, 1984, at St. Clement Hospital in Red Bud, where he had been a patient for 24 days.

"Mr. Lerch was the husband of Anna Lerch nee Hess.

"His body will be in state at the Quernaheim Funeral Home in Waterloo until 11 a.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday at St. John United Church of Christ, Valmeyer, the Rev. Robert Hedman officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Masonic services will be a 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home.

"Mr. Lerch was born Sept. 16, 1901 at Maeystown as son of Charles and Ida Lerch, nee Mosbacher. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Ethel) Rohling of Valmeyer five sons; Carlyle J. Lerch of Columbia, Harold H. Lerch of Ashley, ILL, Theodore W. Lerch of Valmeyer, ILL, Arlyn H. and Robert E. Lerch of Waterloo. His son-in-law, five daughters-in-law, 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren a brother Francis Unterseh of Valmeyer; and four sisters; Lucretia Kipping, Evelyn Fooste and Helen Guttmann of Valmeyer adn Ellen Fritz of St. Louis.

"He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

"Mr. Lerch was a member of St. John Church, Ainad Temple Shrine, Scotish Rite Valley of Southern Illinois, Morris Lodge 787 A.F. & A. M., Monroe County Shrine Club, Waterloo Lodge 732 Order of Eastern Star, Waterloo Lodge 127 IOOF Modern Woodmen of America, Engineers Local 520, Valmeyer Senior Citizens, and the American Associaion of Retired Persons. He was a charter member of the Valmeyer Fire Department."
