He fought in the Italian Alps, Poe Valley and Rome Arno battles. He was wounded and evacuated back to the states on Apr. 7, 1945. He received awards of the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal and Eastern African and Middle East Medals.
