Born in Hargarten, Germany
Charlie, my German reference book, "Die Einwohner der Pfarrei Reimsbach," by Wolfgang Reget, which was published in the Saarland in 1994, shows Gertrud's birthdate as Jan. 24, 1799 in Hargarten, the daughter of Nikolaus Otto, who was born in nearby Merchingen Aug. 6, 1773, and who married Elisabeth Minas in nearby Reimsbach on Feb. 2, 1793. Reimsbach has a very beautiful old church that seems to have been a favorite place for weddings.

The Otto family is shown with ten separate entries, but Nikolaus parents are not shown as connected to any of the other Otto families of the area. They were Johann Otto, who was baptized in Bietzen on Feb. 5, 1745, and who married Magdalena Welsch in the city of Merzig on Oct. 8, 1771. The town of Hilbringen, shown as the Oberhausen location, is some distance west of those other towns and lies across the Saar River, and I'm not aware of any bridges in that area in that time frame... there were undoubtedly ferries operating.
I'll be very happy to exchange data with you. I've been writing a series of 118 articles for the past 20 years for the Northwest Indiana Gen. Socy., as my maternal ancestors came from the Saarland, just a few kilometers north of Reimsbach... the town of Büschfeld.
