In his WWI Draft Registration Card, Max was living in Detroit with his wife Fannie. His birthdate was recored as Aug. 12, 1883. He was a naturalized citizen who worked as a machinist for the Sperlich & Uhlig Co. of Detroit, a toolmaking factory. The card was dated 9/12/1918.

The 1920 Census for Detroit shows that Max immigrated to America in 1901 from Hungary, and he became a naturalized citizen in 1914.
