Born Jan. 12, 1919 in Mrzovic, Yugoslavia, Elisabeth married and lived in Austria with husband, Stefan Kowatsch and children. In 1952, she and her family came to the United States and lived in Southern California.
Elisabeth was a homemaker the majority of her life. She enjoyed family gatherings, dancing Polka with her husband and friends. Elisabeth also enjoyed gardening and crocheting, taking much pride in her home.
Elisabeth, called "grandma" by almost everyone, will be most remembered for her sense of humor and unconditional love for her family and friends.
Survivors: She is survived by her son, Steve Kowatsch of Hesperia; sisters, Anni Hikel of Germany, and Maria Rosen of Chicago; 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Stefan Kowatsch; son, Andreas Kowatsch Sr. and daughters, Mary Powers and Paula Dugan.
Chapel Blessing service: 1 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at Mehl's Colonial Chapel, 222 E. Lake Ave., Watsonville. Private scattering at sea service will be held at a later date.
