Christopher R. "Chris" Gassmann, 51, of Olney died Saturday May 1, 2004 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Olney.

Mr. Gassmann was born on May 1, 1953 in Olney, the son of George W. and Barbara (Elkins) Gassmann.

He married Gwen Hamner on July 21, 1984 and she survives.

He owned and operated Illini Builders in Olney. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney and was a member of Olney Elks Lodge #926 and Knights of Columbus #1352.

Mr. Gassmann is survived by his wife, Gwen Gassmann of Olney; three children, Hannah, Max, and Sadie Gassmann all at home; his mother Barbara Gassmann of Olney; four sisters, Carrie Burrows of Glen Ellyn, Emily Gassmann of Salt Lake City, Utah, Judy Burrows of Cary and Beth Petty of Olney; two brothers, George W. Gassmann Jr. of Alton and Dan Gassmann of Western Springs.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Harriett Gassmann.
