Doris Ann Dalhaimer, 83, died June 17, 2010 in Chandler, Arizona.

The Vigil with Rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010, in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church. Father Rick Fischer will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 15, 2010, also in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.

Doris will then be inurned at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

The youngest of eight children, Doris was born May 7, 1927 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, to Sophie and Fred Herzog. She graduated from Central High School in 1945, and married her true love, Joseph Dalhaimer, in 1949. The couple moved to Oregon in 2001, and after 52 years of marriage, Joseph died in April 2002.

Doris was an avid reader. Her favorite authors were Nicholas Sparks, Debbie Macomber, and Richard Paul Evans. To her surprise, she received a special birthday card from Nicholas Sparks last May.

Doris inspired the book "Value Meals on the Volga," written by her daughter, Anna. The book is a collection of German-Russian recipes Doris learned as a newlywed. Her butterhorns, grebel, and cookies were family favorites.

Attending daily Mass for over nine years, Doris was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Leach, Joan (John) Gamache and Anna Dalhaimer Bartkowski; and grandchildren, Steve Gamache, Christina (Chris) Gamache Martin, Becky Bartkowski and Ashley Bartkowski.

In addition to her parents and her beloved husband, Doris was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
