Alexander was born in the Volga village of Erlenbach, Russia. He came to the United States with his parents about 1912.

Was accidentally killed at Huntington, Indiana, Saturday about 12 noon while returning home with his son Pvt. Alex Schimpf from Camp Breckinridge, KY to spend the holidays at home. He was born Dec 4, 1905 at Alenbach (sic), Russia and came to America in 1912 settling in Saginaw and lived here until four years ago when he moved to Flint. On Sept 17, 1928 he married Leona Schafer in Saginaw who predeceased him on Feb 8, 1951. He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Flint and a salesman for the Grinnell Brothers Music in Flint. Surviving are one daughter and two sons, Dorothy Schimpf of Flint, Cpl. Don Schimpf, US Army stationed in Germany; and Pvt. Alex Schimpf, Camp Breckinridge, Ky; his aged mother Katherine Schimpf of Saginaw; two brothers, Adam and Fred of Saginaw; two sisters, Mrs. David Rappuhn, and Mrs. Conrad Fass, Saginaw. Funeral service will take place Wed 1pm at Gugel's Funeral Home and at 1:30 p.m. at the Emanuel Lutheran Church, Rev Albert Wienbrauck and Rev Jacob Eichhorn officiating and entombment will be in Oakwood Mausoleum. Friends may see Mr. Schimpf after 6pm Monday at the funeral home.
