Went to be with the Lord, his wife and son Wednesday evening Jan 4, 1989. Age 80 years. He was born April 20, 1908 in Oberdorf, Russia coming to Michigan as a child. He married Eva Schafer July 26, 1930 in Saginaw. She predeceased him Jan 19, 1983. He was a very active member of Grace Baptist Church, the German Brotherhood, the U.A.W. Local No. 455 and an avid fisherman. Prior to his retirement in 1968 he was employed as a millwright at Malleable Iron Foundry. Surviving are one daughter, one son, one daughter-in-law and their spouses, Barbara and James Lange, David and Linda Schimpf and Barbara Jo Schimpf, all of Saginaw; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a special niece, Katie Rappuhn. A son, Donald F. Schimpf predeceased him May 1983. Also two sisters, Mary Fass and Mollie Reppuhn, a brother, Alex Schimpf and half brother, Adam Meyer have also predeceased him.
Funeral service will take place 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan 7, 1989 at Grace Baptist Church, 4619 Mackinaw. Rev. John Clark will officiate with interment in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends are welcome to call at Wakeman Funeral Home, 1218 N. Michigan Ave. on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., then at the church on Saturday from 12 noon until time of service. Those who so desire may make memorials to Grace Baptist Church or Family Life Radio.
