Detlef Schroeder, a resident of Scott county for the past 55 years, died at his home on Cemetery road at 2:30 o'clock this morning, following an illness of many years' duration. His fatal sickness lasted about one week.
The deceased was born in Holstein, Germany, October 31, 1843, and came to America and Scott county in 1869. He spent many years in farming and for the past 12 years has been engaged as a truck farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna Schroeder, two daughters, Miss Alvina Schroeder of Kremlin, Okla., and Margaret Ehler of Davenport, and five sons, Julius and George of Denison, Ia., and William, Henry and Walter, all of Davenport. Two daughters, Emma and Lena preceded him in death several years ago.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Halligan Funeral home and interment will be made at Pine Hill Cemetery.
