She was born on May 23, 1923, on a farm southeast of Kelly, KS, the daughter of Joseph and Emma Boeckman Hermesch. She grew up in the Kelly community and attended St. Bede's School there.
On April 19, 1944, she married B. Theodore "Ted" Schultejans at St. Bede's Catholic Church in Kelly. They lived north of Corning, where the couple farmed, raised stock and celebrated 56 years of marriage.
She was a member of St. Bede's Church and St. Ann's Alter Sodality in Kelly and the American Legion Auxiliary of Corning. Eleanor was a homemaker and a loving mother. She loved playing cards, quilting, sewing, gardening, polka music and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Jerry (Glenda) Schultejans and Jim (Diane) Schultejans, both of Corning; five daughters, Mary Jane (Regis) Schmitz of Baileyville, RoseAnn (Stan) Hornbaker Lawrence, Linda (George) Hyland of Bixby, OK, Emma (Bryan) Kientz of Broken Arrow, OK and Kathy (Chuck) Carter of Topeka; a brother, Henry Hermesch of Seneca; a sister, Alfreda Kramer of Corning; a sister-in-law, Connie Hermesch of Seneca; 27 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ted, on November 14, 2000; four brothers, George, Adolph, Leo, and Fredolin Hermesch; and three sisters, Mary Hermesch, Florence Bergman, and Rose Glissman.
Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 AM on Wednesday, July 28, at St. Bede's Church in Kelly. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
