She was born October 23, 1925 at the Sabetha Hospital, to Joseph and Emma Boeckman Hermesch. She grew up in the Kelly community, on a farm southeast of Kelly, and attended St. Bede's School. She graduated from Kelly High School on May 23, 1943. After graduation she helped her Father in the home and on the farm.
On October 23, 1946 she married Albert J. Kramer at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly. They farmed near Goff and Corning prior to Albert’s death on September 24, 1973. Alfreda worked as a sales clerk at the Ben Franklin Store in Seneca; and after retiring, she kept herself busy babysitting, gardening and delivering papers for the Topeka Capital Journal in the Corning area. Alfreda built a new home in Corning January of 1980, and moved into town. She moved into Country Place Assisted Living in March of 2012; and to Crestview in April 2015.
Alfreda was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Corning and a member of St. Patrick’s Altar Society. She was a past altar society president; and she taught grade school religion at St. Patrick’s Church.
Alfreda was very proud of her farm land and enjoyed the time she spent on her farms. She was a member of the Card Club and enjoyed playing cards until recently. She treasured the time she spent watching her grandchildren in their various athletic events.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her father on January 1, 1971; her mother on April 7, 1940; her step-mother, Elizabeth Kohake on August 11, 1969; and all of her siblings, Mary Hermesch in 1919, Henry Hermesch on October 29, 2010, Adolph Hermesch on December 31, 1994, Leo Hermesch in April of 1936, Fridolin Hermesch on April 10, 1926, Rose Hermesch Glissman on October 18, 2008, Eleanor Hermesch Schultejans on July 25, 2010, Florence Hermesch Bergman on June 30, 2006 and George Hermesch on May 8, 1986.
Alfreda is survived by her seven children, Alice (Don) Boden of Keller, Texas, John (Janie) Kramer of Corning, Steve (Cathy) Kramer of Corning, Leon (Janie) Kramer of Lindale, Texas, Ruth (Mark) Campfield of Manhattan, Kansas, Trish (Clay) Feilmeier of Smyrna, Georgia and Troy (Laurie) Kramer of Corning; 19 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 AM on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at St. Patrick’s Church in Corning by Father Arul. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
