Ernst Heinrich Wilhelm Holst, eldest son of Henry Holst and wife Freuda, was born at Altenbruch, Germany, February 25. 1851 and died at Mary Lanning hospital at Hastings, Nebraska, June 3, 1928 after a very brief illness. He had always enjoyed good health up to this time. He was aged 77 years and 3 months and 8 days.

He was confirmed in the Lutheran church in Germany at the age of 14. After having served three years in the army he came to Columbia county (sic), Wis., in 1876. February 17, 1879 he came to Nebraska and settled on a farm in Nuckolls County near Edgar where he lived until his death.

January 27, 1889 he was united in marriage to Frieda Marie Glawatz of St Louis, Mo. To this union were born five children, Hans, Emma, Edna, Louis and Florence all of whom reside at home.

Beside the family he leaves to mourn his loss, one brother, Henry, of Edgar, and three sisters, Mrs. R. Jaegermann of St Louis, Mo.; Mrs Carl Michaels of Chicago, Ill.; and Mr (sic) J. R. Hull of Sedan, Nebr,, beside a host of friends and neighbors. One brother and three sisters preceeded (sic) him in death.

He was a kind and loving husband and father and always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was deeply interested in his home and will be sadly missed by everyone.
