Dorothy Marie (Schulz) Brade passed from this earth on Friday, June 24th, 2016. She was born on July 4th, 1927 in McDade, Texas, the daughter of Wilhelm Ferdinard Schulz and Frieda Emma (Ihlo) Schulz and was baptized and confirmed at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Paint Creek, Texas.

Dorothy married Richard Paul Brade at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln on June 4, 1950. The union was blessed with three daughters: Marion, Carol and Jeanette.

After the sudden passing of her husband, Dorothy’s protestant work ethic was a driving factor that encouraged her to continue to farm and ranch cattle, go back to school and receive her GED. Outside the farm, Dorothy was employed by Caldwell Chair Factory, Invader Boats and Giddings Independent School District from where she retired. In retirement, Dorothy continued to have cattle and became passionate in quilting, making jelly and continued gardening.

She is survived by her three daughters, Marion and her husband David Shofner of Pflugerville, Carol Koenig of Elgin, and Jeanette and her husband Ricky Mattiza of Houston; 4 grandchildren, Kristi and her husband Adam Babb, Dustin and his wife Alyssa Mattiza, Kimberly and her husband John Martinez and Derrick and his wife Cynthia Mattiza; 5 great grandchildren, Blake and Brendan Martinez, Patrick and Jacob Babb, Mina Mattiza and one great granddaughter expected in September; brother, Charlie and his wife Barbara Schulz of Elgin; sister-in-law, Annie Schulz and brother-in-law Wilbert Iselt both of Paige; extended family, Sana, Rommy and Taleen Khalaf and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Brade; parents, Wilhelm and Frieda (Ihlo) Schulz; siblings, Leon Schulz, Harold Schulz, Irene Iselt, Modean Raschke, Pearl Eschberger, Laverne Schulz and Gloria Fruzia, and former son-in-law, Edward Koenig.
