"PLAINVIEW -- Vera E. Schuchard, 80, of Plainview, a homemaker and lifelong Wabasha County resident, died Saturday at Methodist Hospital in Rochester after suffering a stroke earlier in the day. The former Vera E. Kuhlmann was born Aug. 11, 1902, in Elgin where she married Alfred Schuchard on Sept. 26, 1923. The couple made their home in Plainview, where they owned and operated Schuchard Sand and Gravel, and he was also in trucking and landscaping. Mr. Schuchard died in 1979.
Mrs. Schuchard was a member of the Plainview Senior Citizens and active in Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include two sons, LaVerne of Rochester and Harold of Mankato; a daughter, Mrs. Francis (Joanne) Appel of Millville; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Verna McFarland of Elgin and Mrs. Esther Berntson of Campbell, Calif.; and a brother, Elmer Kuhlmann of Lake Isabella, Calif. A grandchild preceded her in death. The funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview with the Rev. Gerald Peterson officiating.
