Son of Mrs. Mary Kilian who resided in Buffalo, New York.

John served as a Staff Sergeant & Gunner on B-24H #42-64497, 740th Bomber Squadron, 455th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on April 10, 1942 in Buffalo, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a filer, grinder, buffer, and polisher of metal and also as Single, with dependents.

John was "Killed In Action" when his B-24, flying out of San Giovanni, Italy, lost at least one of their engines and collided with B-24 #41-29296 just west of Tremiti Island and crashed in the Adriatic Sea during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
