Christiane Bertha Stengert immigrated to the United States in 1851 with her husband, August Ferdinand Koenig, Sr.. They had three children all of whom were born in Houston, Texas. They were:

Her husband died in 1871. Her son died in April, 1880 at the age of 24. When the census of 1880 was taken in June of that year, she lived with her daughter in law, Hanna Wilhelmine Depenbrock Koenig and her one-year old granddaughter, Augusta. Her daughter in law gave birth to her son's second child, Johanna, in December, 1880.
By 1882, Bertha was living with her daughter, Johanne Friedericke Koenig Weiss, and her husband, Jacob J. Weiss, and would reside with them for the remainder of her life.
She is buried in the Weiss family plot in Washington Cemetery with her husband, August Ferdinand Koenig, Sr., her son, August Koenig, Jr., her daughter, Johanne Friedericke Koenig Weiss, her son in law, Jacob J. Weiss, her granddaughter, Louisa Bertha Weiss, and her great granddaughter, Baby Weiss.
