He is buried in the Weiss family plot in Washington Cemetery with his wife, Christiane Bertha Stengert Koenig, his son, August Koenig, Jr., his daughter, Johanne Friedericke Koenig Weiss, his son in law, Jacob J. Weiss, his granddaughter, Louisa Bertha Weiss, and his great granddaughter, Baby Weiss.

All three died before the German Society Cemetery (Washington Cemetery) was established in 1887. They were disinterred from their former burial locations and buried in the current location when the Weiss family purchased this burial lot in 1893.
