The funeral for Maxine Metzger, 85, of Chatfield, will be Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with Rev. Preston Paul officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
Mrs. Metzger died Aug. 21, 2010, at her home in Chatfield.
Maxine Claudia Baier was born Nov. 29, 1924, to Herman and Adeline (Yetter) Baier in Chatfield. She graduated from Chatfield High School in 1942. Maxine was a lifetime resident of Chatfield. She married Eli Metzger on Jan. 20, 1963, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Eli died Aug. 2, 2004.
Maxine was a waitress for 40 years in several cafes in Chatfield. Maxine was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves baseball team, cooking, spending time with her family, and watching TV.
Survivors include her son, Rudy (Jane) Hanson of Rochester; two granddaughters, Amanda (Mike) Keller of Lanzhou, China, and Samantha (Scott) Duke of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at the Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and one hour before the service on Thursday at the church.
