Martha Ann King, 80, died Sun., July 25, 2010 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Funeral services were Tues. with Rev. Edward Balsar officiating. Burial followed at Bethlehem Cemwetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home. Mrs. King was born June 7, 1930 in Yazoo County to William Joseph Hood and Anna Sudbeck Hood. She was a case manager for the Mississippi Department of Human Services and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Picket King; a son, Bill King, and a nephew, David Spiars. Survivors include; a grandson, Anthony King of Yazoo City; two sisters, Patsy Spiars of Yazoo City and Betty Rickels of Baton Rouge, La.; and two brothers, Bill Hood of West Point and David Hood of Palm Springs, Calif. Serving as pallbearers were Billy Hood, Joe Rickels Jr., Pete Rickels, Chris Hood, Mickey Rickels and Roger Kinard. Published in Yazoo Herald on July 28, 2010.
