Obituary - Indiana Herald (Huntington, IN)
Wed., 20 Jan. 1875
We are called upon this week to record the death of Dr. Frederick Bippus which resulted from consumption and occurred last Friday noon at the residence of his father in Warren Township. This intelligence will carry a feeling of sorrow to many breasts in this city and county where he was widely known and universally esteemed.
Dr. Bippus was one of the most promisinig young professional men of our city and his earnestness and devotion to his chosen calling were rapidly placing him in the front rank. He studied medicine in the office of Dr. Grayston, in this city, and after a course of lectures in the Chicago Medical College, graduated from that institution in 1848 at the head of his class.
He subsequently obtained a partnership with Dr. Grayston until failing health obliged him to retire from active practice some two years ago. A student and partner of his business relations with Dr. Grayston subsisted for eight years.
Dr. Bippus was a native of Canal Dover, Tuscarawas County, Ohio and at the time of his death, was 31 years, 4 months and 13 days old. He was thoroughly a gentleman and his unvarying courtesy, gentleness and consideration for others had attached to him a host of friends of every walk of life. There is no heart, we think, in all this county that will not beat in sympathy with the bereaved relatives who mourn the sad ending of this young life which but a little while since was so full of hopeful promise. He was buried from his fathers residence last Sunday morning.
