Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Phelps of Overton, a former Lexington residents, were held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock in Trinity Lutheran church, with the Rev. Victor Jordening officating. Burial was in Hillside Cemtery rural Lexington. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
mrs. Phelps died Sunday at her daughter's home in Council Bluffs, Iowa following a lengthy illness. She was 58.
Lena Wilhelmina Sophia Schwarz was born Sept. 12, 1912 at Smithfield, the daughter of Jacob and Minnie Schwarz. She attended schools there and was married to Marcus Noble of Amherst in Hope Lutheran Church on June 16, 1937. They made their home in Lexington and were the parents of seven children. Mr. Noble died 20 years ago.
She married Norman Phelps. Mrs. Phelps had lived at Overton several years.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three sons, Leo Noble of Sidney, Army Specialist Five Milford Noble of Ft. Lewis, Wash., and Bruce Noble of Newport Beach, Calif.; four daughters Mrs. J. R. (Noreen) Bownes of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Richard (Delores) Johnson of Lexington, Mrs. Kenneth (Sharon) Underwood of Greensburg, Kans., and Mrs. Rosemary Buchholz of Council Bluffs; a brother, Frank Schwarz of Lexington; sister Mrs. Fred (Clara) Woehrle, Mrs. Harold (Rose) Woodside both of Lexington, and Mrs. John (Elsie) Roper of Sargent; 14 grandchildren. Also precending her in death were her parents, seven brothers and one sister.
