Barbara was the daughter of Michael Grieshammer and Elizabeth Schatten. Her parents, Michael and Elizabeth, were married on Christmas Day 1858 in St. Louis, Missouri. Barbara and her older sister, Elisabeth, were their only 2 children.

Barbara's mother married Henry Depper on 04 Feb 1865 in St. Louis. The family lived in Calhoun County, Illinois. Elizabeth had 2 children with Henry--Barbara's half-brother and half-sister. Barbara's first step-father, Henry Depper, died on 01 Nov 1871.

Barbara's mother married a third time on 17 Sep 1872 in Calhoun County to Sebastian Bayer. He was Barbara's second step-father.

Barbara married Johann August "John" Schulz on 20 Apr 1882 in Calhoun County, Illinois. Their only known child, Louisa, was born on Christmas Day in 1882. The baby lived for slightly more than 18 months and died on the 4th of July 1884.

A year-and-a-half after Louisa's death, Barbara died in January 1886. She was about 22-years-old when she passed away.

After Barbara's death, John married Mary Marie Meyer on 08 Aug 1889 in Calhoun. They were the parents of several children.

John died in 1916.

DEATHS

An Aged Citizen of Point Called Home.


John Schultz died at his home near Golden Eagle Monday morning December 4, 1916, leaving a wife and three grown up sons to mourn the loss of a dear husband and father.

Mr. Schultz was a man who was held in high esteem by all who knew him and his death is deplored by many. He was a man who lived at peace with his neighbor and was ready at all times to lend a helping hand.

To his bereaved wife and sons we extend our deepest sympathy.
