John Samuel "Sammy" Menton - a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, died Wednesday, September 22, 2010 in a local hospital. Sammy was a graduate of McGill-Toolen High School where he excelled in sports and was an avid horse trainer. He was preceded in death by his father, William J. "Bill" Menton, Sr.; one brother, Francis A. "Frank" Menton; one sister, Carmen E. Menton; and his grandmother, Rosario Bermudez-Santana. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Carmen E. Menton; his brothers and sisters, Grace M. (Bob) Overmeyer, William J. (Patricia) Menton, Mary Jane Menton, Edward C. (Brenda) Menton, Regina F. Menton, Thomas P. Menton, and Charles M. "Chip" Menton; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 P.M. on Monday, September 27, 2010 from St. Margaret Catholic Church, Bayou La Batre, AL. The family will receive friends from 1 P.M. until 2 P.M. on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor or SOMI House. Interment will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Coden, AL. Condolences may be offered at www.radney funeralhome-mobile.com
