Obituary of Katherine M. Kuester.
Katherine Margaret Kuester was born in the village _______ the province of __________. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the age of thirteen, and has been a life long member of that church. She was held in love and esteem by every one.
She was married on the 11th day of October, 1866, to Henry W. Kuester and with him and the eldest son, Henry, immigrated to America a year later, landing in Baltimore on the 12th day of October, 1868, and later in the same year, removed to Medaryville, Indiana, where they resided 12 years.
In 1880 the family came to North Judson, where she has made her home ever since.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1886.
Mrs. Kuester was the mother of eight children, six of whom survive her: Henry W., of Huntington, Ind., Charles H., and Henriette of Chicago, Ill., William G. of North Judson, Ind., Mrs. George G. Keister of Wolf lake, Ind., and Regina Butts of Bradley, Ill., one daughter, Louese, died in 1900, and one son, Frederick, died in infancy. Besides her children she leaves three brothers and three sisters: Henry Luken of Medaryville, Ind., Gust Luken, of Hamlet, Ind., William Luken of Michigan City, Ind., Mrs. George Alberding of San Pierre, Ind., Mrs. Charlotte Hine of Medaryville, Ind., and Mrs. John Kluth of Lafayette, Ind. Another brother, Harman Luken, died at San Pierre, Ind., and one sister died in infancy.
There are also eighteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the W. G. Kuester residence, in charge of Rev. Wm. Heine, and interment was made in the North Judson cemetery.
The following relatives from a distance were here last Friday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Katherine Kuester: Mrs. F. L. Butts, Bradley, Ill., Mrs. John Kluth, Mrs. Geo. Schnaible, Lafayette; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kluth, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Kuester, Otto Luken, Chicago; Henry Luken and family, Mrs. Harley Miller, Mrs. J. Hine and sons, Mrs. A. Grieger and Mrs. Fred Krofft and daughter, Medaryville, Ind., Mr. and Mrs. Geo. G. Keister, Kimmel, Ind.; Henry Luken, H. A. Hine and family, Chas. Alberding and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weinkauf, Mrs. Edw. Long, and Mrs. K. Menga, San Pierre, Ind., Mrs. A. Marshall and daughter, Kersey, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Gus Luken, Hamlet, Ind., H. W. Kuester, Huntington; Geo. Alberding, Logansport and Herman Alberding, Winamac, Ind. Three sons, Henry, Charles and Wm. G., and three nephews, Herman Alberding, Henry Kluth and Edw. Hine, served as pallbearers at the funeral.
