Mrs. Dietrich Leck Passes On

The Grim Reaper who surely comes and comes when no one knows the day or the hour, has come into the Leck home and took the dear mother to enter unto her heavenly home where pain and sorrow are not, but joy and gladness reign forevermore.

Mrs. Dietrich Leck, nee Emily Winkler, after being seriously ill since last February, died Sunday, December 28, 1941, at 8:45 a. m. All that medical skill and loving hands could do was done, but all to no avail. She reached the age of 65 years, 1 month and 7 days.

Mrs. Leck was born in High Hill, Fayette county. She was married to Mr. Leck in 1897, to which union 11 children were born. An infant daughter preceded her to the grave. The family lived in the Dreyer and Shiner communities, and in 1901 bought a farm at Sunset where the deceased lived until her death. She is survived by her husband, 10 children, one stepson, and 19 grandchildren. The children are as follows: Henry of Shiner, Alvin of Stamford, Rudie of Del Rio, Elo of Cuero, Edmund at home, Willie (step-son) of Yorktown, Mrs. Henry (Elsie) Flessner of Cuero, Mrs. Chas. (Louise) Flessner of Cuero, Mrs. Gus (Annie) Rippen of New Braunfels, Mrs. Wilbert (Emma) Jares of New Braunfels, and Mrs. Louis (Della) Gawlik of Cuero; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Ullmann of Cheapside and Mrs. John Schroeder of Westhoff also survive.

The deceased lady was laid to rest in the Shiner City Cemetery Monday afternoon. Funeral services were held at the United Dr. Martin Luther Church at 2 p. m., Rev. R. Schuetze officiating.

Pallbearers were: Chas. Krueger, Chas. Balusek, Paul Zacharias, Rud. Filip, Arthur Hoerig and Joe Baros.

The Gazette extends sincere sympathy to the bereaved.

Per James of FAG, Emily and her husband is buried in Shiner Sons of Herman Cemetery not Shiner City cemetery as is listed in her obit.
