In 1854 David Casper Haeger and his family homesteaded to McHenry Illinois from Germany. In 1871 David C. and his son David H. started a brick business in East Dundee, the same year as the Chicago Fire. They supplied Chicago with bricks to rebuild the city. Later the brick business led to the successful "Haeger" pottery in East Dundee, Illinois. David C, his wife Maria & son Rudolf are interred in the David Haeger Cemetery, adjacent to the Haeger Schoolhouse, both are closed. Located in Barrington Hills, Illinois at Meadow Hill & Spring Creek Roads on the southwest corner. Area is fenced & schoolhouse converted to a residence.See Kane County 1888 History Book pg. 796
