"D.H. Haeger, who was engaged in a brick and tile business in Dundee, Elgin & Gilbert's was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, August 7, 1839. At fourteen years old, he came to American with his father David C., mother Mary and 4 younger brothers and sisters. The family homestead was on Spring Creek Road in McHenry County, Barrington Hills, IL. . Across the road the children attended Haeger School with its adjacent cemetery, where David's parents are interred. David's 1st wife was Caroline S.Reese (daughter of Henry & Eliza Reese of Barrington) married in 1864, a native of Germany. Eliza died in 1867, they had one daughter Emma . In 1870 he married Mary Weltzien of Huntley, IL, also a native of Germany. By this second marriage Mr. Haeger became the father of six children: Edith, Thusnelda , Edna [17 Oct 1877, Dundee, Kane, Illinois - 29 Jan 1953 Los Angeles, California, m. 1903 to Herbert William Walker 22 Nov 1875, Illinois - 26 Oct 1964 Los Angeles, California], David [David Carl, 5 Jun 1879 Dundee, Kane, Illinois - 15 Mar 1944 Chicago, Cook, Illinois; M. #1 Mary Newhall abt. 1907, b. 1879 Oregon, Ogle, Illinois - 17 Feb 1920 Aurora, Kane, Illinois, buried Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery, Illinois F-A-G # 39501242; m. #2, in 1923 to Jessie L. Ferris (13 Aug 1891, Iowa - 19 Sep 1955, Florida), divorced from David late 30's], Mary and Edmond. The Haeger brick & tile business later developed into pottery manufacturing in Dundee Illinois.
