BROWN, Tony Age 94 of Clayton, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2005 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Englewood. Tony emigrated from Germany in 1929 at the age of 19 and settled in Ohio. He was befriended by the Vernon Glaser family from whom he gained his love of produce and supplied many local family groceries with produce prior to opening his own produce business. Tony and his wife Helen were the Founders of Browns Produce and A. Brown & Sons Nursery in the Clayton and Phillipsburg areas which they owned and operated for many years with their children and were founding members of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Trotwood. He is survived by his daughter: _____ Brown of Kettering, sons and daughters-in-law: _____ Brown of Phillipsburg, _____ Brown of Clayton, _____ Brown of Phillipsburg, _____ Brown of Phillipsburg, daughter-in-law: _____ Brown of Brookville, 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife: Helen (Stukenborg) Brown, son: Vernon Thomas Brown and grandson: Matthew Thomas Brown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 21 at the Precious Blood Catholic Church (4961 Salem Ave.) with Father William O'Donnell officiating. Interment will follow the service at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens in Brookville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Kindred Funeral Home (400 Union Blvd., Englewood). Prayers will be held at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home prior to Mass. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Precious Blood Catholic Church, envelopes will be provided.
